Ceres (and Uranus) to Pluto ~ 11 Feb 2015

This next Sunday Ceres moves into an exact conjunction with Pluto in Capricorn. Hours later, the alignment receives supercharged emotional sanction from the Moon catching up with their positions, and adding reactionary impulse.

Recalling mythology, Ceres and Pluto maintained less than an ideal relationship. After all, Pluto did abduct Ceres’ daughter and held her captive in the underworld. Ceres, applying less than optimal consciousness, threatened global destruction (by destroying all the world’s agriculture) if her daughter was not returned. At this point, great efforts of arbitration were urgently needed. Finally the deal was struck where Persephone/Core would participate in a joint custody arrangement between her mother and her captor.

In the moment, Ceres moves through a square to Uranus in Aries. Uranus, on grumpy days, can be more cranky and cantankerous that a curmudgeon at a smorgasbord where the pastries are stale... talk about crusty.

Now the ideal objective of Ceres is to state a clear case for the best position one can maintain in life, negotiate and end up with win-win scenarios for all parties. Uranus seeks to uphold the integrity of ones individuality and tends to toe the no compromise line in the sand. Pluto defends the bottom line, which in true Plutonian terms suggests that while you stand true to terms and conditions that can be termed righteous, ensure the end result is not pure hell.

This pattern seems to pressurize real world situations for most folks presently. Surely, it is clear in the news and definitively stated in the political agendas occupying headlines. Many of the situations out there will not produce fruitful, positive outcomes no matter how many pomegranate seeds are consumed. Without dwelling on revenge politics and underhanded protocols, knee jerk retaliations and other mayhem, let’s set up some parameters and safety tips for the next week to ten days with this pattern in orb.

We are coming up to a Venus-Mars conjunction in Aries, where hope for obtaining the “spoils” of diplomacy and smooth negotiation, promisingly shimmers in the sunlight.

Despite the claims that others intend to help, sign the contract, fulfill the deal, enhance the agreement in place, they present no concern for your timeline, material requirements, emotional needs for spiritual intentions. It seems to be all about them. I’ll get with you next week after vacation in tropical paradise (never mind your silly timeline). I have to see if I have enough money to do this deal with you. Reply Ceres and Uranus, “If you weren’t #&%**ing away your money on the most expensive island in the world, you’d have some %%&#@ money to work this deal with me, you ignoramus!”

Note: that’s not the best retort to the resort agenda.

It is advisable to go into any and all negotiations with a sense of bottom line. Know your floor. Establish pluses, bonuses and back end to go with the floor. Negotiate in earnest for the best result for all. Be enthusiastic. State pluses and positives with clarity and enthusiasm. Be fair. Avoid avarice. Maintain your highest spiritual standards and drive only on the high road.

These aspirations leave you with the following rhetorical questions, which might cause a psyche to fret, and with the ultimate declaration: You must live with the deal you cut.

Can you go below your bottom line and live with it?

Is it better to get a little, instead of what you really require?

Is a bird in the hand really better than one in the bush?

How important is your integrity?

What’s the least amount you can tolerate in terms of money and working terms?

How can you enforce your ephemeral requirements with those who have no sense of time?

How do you emphasize the urgency of your conditions without appearing desperate?

Can you negotiate at the cusp of bottom line without going with a scorched earth strategy?

Can you remain in a consciousness of fairness when you feel your attributes are exploited?

Will you walk away from a bad deal without regret?

Is compromise truly possible?

Will the results of these negotiations place you in Nirvana or Tartarus?

These questions are tough ones. No doubt the negotiations and conditions you’re working to resolve are critical to your well-being. It’s hard to be cool under pressure, especially when the pressure is charged with survival issues and the passion for emotional gratification.

We’re just coming off Mercury retrograde. Take the extra moment to think and process before replying. You can always ask for a moment, or an hour, or some other reasonable time to gather your wits and work out the numbers and details. That’s good, smart business. Sure, the clock is running. So, work your brain through all contingencies by answering the above rhetorical questions prior to entering negotiation sessions. Stay cool. If need be, get a representative to speak on your behalf. Those Mercury sorts... intellectual property attorneys, agents, managers and negotiators may actually be able to save the day.

Or if one honors Mercury and avoids half truths, sleight of hand and the issuance of statements not believed, the results should be more impactful... in a good way... and for all.

Ceres did not destroy the Earth despite her threats. Pluto yielded (Jupiter was issuing the decrees; so really was their choice) and an arrangement that all could uphold did result. Ultimatums and bluffs were not called. Disaster, despite threats did not occur. All options were not required and most certainly, the nuclear option was not put in play.

And for bitchy Uranus, think like those old grumpy men who have retired in Arizona: Before you yell “get off the grass,” look around. Most landscaping here does not even contain grass. Make sure the complaint rendered holds context and some modicum of consciousness for good measure.

More soon.
